Craigleith Property Group has announced plans to develop a new easyHotel in Chester City Centre.

The 109-bed hotel will be a new purpose designed structure on a vacant site on Forest Street, which has an existing permission for a hotel.

Work is expected to start later this year with completion slated for late 2019 early 2020.

The deal expands easyHotel’s presence in the North West following recent openings in Manchester and Liverpool.

Craigleith Chairman John Kennedy, said: “This is a great site in a vibrant city where we have seen increasing demand for visitor accommodation. EasyHotel’s brand and ethos to provide contemporary, accessible accommodation fills a void and we are hugely excited about working together on this project. We continue to seek hotel opportunities in the area and farther afield.”

The seven storey building has been designed by Axiom Architects with Lichfields advising on planning and Dooley Associates engaged as QS with Engineering services being provided by WSP.

Katrina Michel, chief executive of Marketing Cheshire welcomed the development and said:

“Chester is at the top of the wish list for a number of hotel chains because of its unrivalled heritage and vibrant restaurant scene. We are constantly encouraging people to visit Chester, especially those who stay a while and really explore the city and the surrounding area in depth. An extra hotel in the city centre can only be a welcome addition.”
